For 100 year, the name of OSRAM has been synonymous throughout the world with excellence in lighting. OSRAM was registered and protected as a brand name in 1906. In 1919, three manufacturers – Siemens & Halske AG, Deutsche Gasglühlicht Anstalt (Auer-Gesellschaft) and AEG – combined their lamp production operations. This was the birth of the successful company that is now OSRAM GmbH. We are now one of the two leading lighting manufacturers in the world.

OSRAM in Hong Kong
Osram Prosperity Co., Ltd. was set up in 1996. Main business is to supply lighting products to our customers in Hong Kong and Macau.
Our company obtained ISO9002 in 1998. In 2001 the certificate is upgraded to ISO9001. We pledge to serve our customers with professionalism and quality products. OSRAM products are famous for its product variety and high quality: we have been supplying to different government departments, private corporations, property management, hotels, utilities and consumers; we also supply outdoor light source such as Halogen and HID lamps for street and tunnel lighting. Besides general lighting, we are also focusing on LED solution and supply to various hotel and shop for outdoor and decorative lighting.
OSRAM has been trying her best to provide better light for a better quality of life. Today, higher focus is put on environment friendly products such as Electronic Control Gear, Energy saving bulbs, Fluorescent tubes. Our energy-efficient products provide real benefits for the environment and for our customers.
Environment Concern in Hong Kong
In December 1998, the HK government launched the Voluntary Energy Efficient Labelling Scheme (VEELS) for Compact Fluorescent Lamps. Throughout the years, OSRAM has strongly supported the move by participating in the scheme and joining the Government Task Force on Mandatory Energy Efficiency labeling Scheme (Compact Fluorescent lamps). On 9 May 2008, VEELS for Compact Fluorescent Lamps is enforced by the Energy Efficiency (Labelling of Products) Ordinance and the energy labeling for CFLi (integrated energy saving lamps) turns into a Mandatory Scheme.
As a global company, we take responsibility for the people around us and for the environment. In order to raise the concerns of the general public towards environmental protection, in March 2008, together with another 15 suppliers, OSRAM have funded and organized the Fluorescent Lamp Recycling Programme and become one of the panel members to operate this program
