Cap separation procedure
100 percent recycling

OSRAM developed the cap separation procedure in 1981. With this system it was for the first time possible to recycle all substances in used phosphor lamps. These days all substances contained in phosphor lamps can be recycled just like glass and aluminum. Recycling makes sense, since a high amount of energy is necessary to produce substances. The cap separation process enabled the establishment of an organization for the gathering and recycling of content substances in the eighties.
