Painting is a process of observing vision. In this respect, Rolf Poellet sees himself as a painter in a very real sense.
/poellet_2.jpg)
In an era of virtually unlimited multimedia possibilities, Poellet chooses to work with basic canvas and convey an impressive directness and candor through the reduced elements of the painting's foundation. The artist's work is based on photographs. Some of these he took himself, but most were taken from original sources including bird-watching guidebooks or fashion magazines. Their transformation in the painting diverts the attention from the content to the artistic process through the reduced vocabulary of forms and colors reduced to chromatic shades. Instead of a reproduction with accurate details, Poellet gives the motifs an autonomous existence on canvas through a free artistic gesture and reduced coloration.
The object of Poellet's work is the development of possible subjective positions. In this respect, the focus is on the development of formation principles. Form, space and movement are significant aspects that are taken into account in the history of painting. Sequences, recurrences and the painting process discernible in the picture are seen as current methods for the painting art.
